Audition Guide
The Nutcracker is a magical holiday tradition that families come to enjoy year after year! The one thing more magical is dancing IN The Nutcracker!! Register in advance to audition on September 6, 2025:

1:30 - 2:30 PM - Children's Nutcracker Roles* ages 6-10. Primary I/II, Ballet I/II, Beginning Ballet, Elem I/II.

An online Parent Meeting will be held on Saturday, Sept 13, 11:30 - 12:30pm. The link is posted in the Member Portal.

The Member Portal will open up Monday afternoon. It will have the dancer contracts, the rehearsal Team-up Calendar link, and other information. Please sign-up ahead of time to be approved for access.
Cary Ballet Company is a non-profit youth organization, and performance extension of the Conservatory, that will take you to the next performance level. The Company is by audition only. Once accepted, the dancers take a 1 ½ hour Company Class Saturday mornings in addition to their regular classes (This does not apply to Children Roles). This is a separate fee paid to the Conservatory. Company rehearsals are Saturday afternoons, beginning Sept 13, - May 26, 2026. There will be limited, one or two, Sunday rehearsals. Dancers must attend the FIRST rehearsal as that is when choreography is being set.
Dancers will perform in two major productions: Ten shows of Nutcracker at two different venues in December and two shows of Spring Works. The Spring Works production will announced Summer 2025.
Company members - Eligible levels are Elementary through Professional Training Program (PTP).
Children's Nutcracker roles - Eligible levels are Primary I/II, Ballet I/II, and Beginner Ballet I/II (ages 6-10).
Children’s Nutcracker roles are OPEN to all community dancers wanting to perform with the Company. If you are not a registered dancer at Cary Ballet Conservatory, contact info@caryballetcompany.org for more information about auditioning.
These productions are supported by well over 100 parent volunteers. Parent volunteers participate in committees for costuming, prop restoration, front of house, back of house, fundraising, and more. Each family is expected to sign up for a ‘Team’ to assist with each production.
Cary Ballet Company will schedule a parent’s meeting to discuss the upcoming 2025-26 season and review volunteer roles for each production. This meeting is for new and returning member parents and will be held on Saturday, September 13, in the morning. For out-of-town parents, there will be a Google Meet Meeting on the same day. The link will be sent separately. It will be a fantastic season!!

There is no make-up for the audition. Please connect with info@caryballetcompany.org if you have a conflict or questions.

Dancers are expected to come in their class attire, hair neatly secured, and pointe shoes if applicable.

*I understand that auditioning for a Children’s Roles in Nutcracker does not guarantee being cast within the production.
*Children aged students who are not currently students of Cary Ballet Conservatory must be available to rehearse each Saturday and limited Sundays (2 Sundays max). Minimum height requirement: 4’0″ – 4’10” (50-58 inches). Theater tech rehearsals during the evenings leading up to the shows are mandatory. This audition is strictly for Nutcracker only.
